New Tech, New Threats: Understanding the Security of Blockchain

Gene Geiger is the CTO at A-LIGN, a global cybersecurity and privacy solutions firm. In this presentation, Gene reviews the history of Blockchain as well as current and future use cases. As a cybersecurity expert, Gene highlights the security considerations required when utilizing Blockchain, as well as the potential impact on internal controls.

About the speaker: Gene Geiger has spent his career implementing and assessing information technology controls. He focuses on the governance, risk and compliance software industry and leads A-LIGN’s development efforts for the A-SCEND platform. Prior to his role as CTO, Gene was responsible for developing A-LIGN’s suite of service offerings and managing the service delivery organization. As A-LIGN’s co-founder, Gene was responsible for building he processes, developing the methodology and obtaining firm accreditation/licensing required to deliver cyber security services to A-LIGN’s clients.

Gene has performed and managed assessments against published security standards including SOC 1 & 2, PCI DSS, FedRAMP, FISM, ISO 27001/22301/9001, HITRUST and HIPAA/HITECH. He speaks regularly on the information security impact of emerging technologies and newly released information security standards.
