Thaddeus Batt – Blockchain & DLT Solution Architect,

Colorado Governor’s Office of Information Technology

Thad joined the Colorado technology community in 1999 as a Senior Software Developer at Denver-based digital product development firm Spire Digital (then known as SpireMedia) where he developed Web applications including eCommerce, search engine, and content management platforms for Spire’s first generation of clients. As CTO at Spire, Batt led cross-functional teams of developers, UX/UI, and project managers innovating at the forefront of Web 2.0 through custom digital product development for mobile, social media, and web where he got his first look at blockchain-based technology by accident. While building out a DevOps practice in 2014 he discovered a compromised customer application server – it had been cryptojacked and was being used for mining Bitcoin. After patching the attack vector and reverse engineering the malware, he became interested in the underlying technology. In 2017 he started Blockchain Industries Llc as a blockchain operations (blockops) consultancy helping software developers automate the process of running and configuring nodes for bitcoin- and ethereum-like blockchains. He joined the Colorado Governor’s Office of Information Technology in April 2019 as the State’s first Blockchain and DLT Solution Architect tasked with research and development of the State’s blockchain-related use cases, infrastructure design, applications integrations, and reference architectures.
